About PDL Treatment

About PDL Treatment

PDL Treatments with one of our friendly, caring providers take just a few minutes. These quick and easy cosmetic laser treatments are performed during an outpatient office visit. No anesthesia is required for this type of laser skin treatment, as the machine produces a soothing, cold spray just before the laser pulse, diminishing most sensation of pain. Most patients usually require between 1-3 treatments for complete removal of skin discoloration due to broken vessels.

PDL Side Effects

Side effects are generally minimal. The most common side effect is bruising, which an be minimized or even eliminated. If it does occur, bruising is most pronounced in the first few days and clears within approximately 3 to 7 days. Less common side effects include temporary pigmentary changes usually lasting a few weeks. Sunblock for one month before treatment is recommended as tanned skin blocks the laser light and results in a higher chance of side effects.

PDL Aftercare

Skin care after most laser treatment is straightforward. A moisturizer applied 2-3 times per day will help protect the skin and speed healing. Sun protection will help minimize the chance of skin color changes. Makeup can be used starting on day two. If any crust forms, patients should not pick or try to remove it. Any bruising fades relatively quickly over a 3-7 day period.
